Gunung Kawi
If you feel like taking in a bit of local Balinese culture, this is a great place to start. Gunung Kawi is an 11c temple and funeral shrine built into a cliff wall. It’s thought to be dedicated to King Anak Wungsu of the Udayana dynasty and his favourite queens. The trip alone is worth the travel, rice terraced valley’s and lush green tropical vista abound. After, if you haven’t had enough, you can head into Ubud and purr through its vibe; a short distance drive away.
